Color Palette - Check!

Here it is--our color palette!

And I love it.

The main reason I had trouble putting together a color story was the darned uniforms!  But after struggling to find colors I liked that didn't clash with the uniforms, I realized something: the uniforms don't have to match anything!  And a friend pointed out that they don't even match themselves sometimes; all the medals, ribbons, and badges are designed to stand out from one another.

The color palette should have been set, right?  But of course, it wasn't because I also tried to avoid black--the black and blue combo didn't feel "Summer-y" enough for our July wedding.

Welp.  I love black, always have and I always will.  And white, I love white. And it's hard to use text as inspiration without it.  Gold  wiggled into the palette as an accent color in our flower containers, and hopefully in our invites.  And I've been smitten with various shades of pink as a substitute for red, another one of my favorite colors.

I still can't let go of the sea glass color, from my original palette, so I'm going to find a way to work it in.  And I left the uniform colors up there so I can see that they still look good against the color palette, even if they don't exactly "match."

So there you have it.  It's bold.  It's sophisticated.  And it's still appropriate for a Summer affair.

What do you think?  Military brides--is your SO wearing a uniform?  Did the colors throw you off a bit?  Or did they work for you?

  2. Love your color palette and I totally agree that the uniform does NOT have to match anything! I think it may even make it look more special, as opposed to something that just blends into the wedding.

Thanks for stopping by. I can't wait to read more of your posts!
